Aerial Views of the Amusement Park

Aerial view of the amusement park on opening day, May 30, 1924. Near the top of the photograph the walkway or boardwalk to Sandy Beach Island is visible. In the center of the photograph is the Minnewawa Dancehall, which burned to the ground two weeks after Labor Day, 1935. The rollercoaster extended over almost a half-mile alongside the harbor. Notice the many cars parked along Chase Avenue.

Looking north towards Orchard Island. The walkway connecting the amusement park with Sandy Beach Island is shown in the center of the postcard. Note how the walkway crossed over a small strip of land with some vegetation and trees. In later years, this strip of land constituted the northern boundary of the Spa, a state-of-the-art swimming pool.

Note the absence of any cars in the parking lot of the park in this undated aerial view.
