Andrus Hotel

East of the spillway was the oldest hotel on the shores of Lewistown Reservoir, the Andrus Hotel, built in 1871. This area was known as “Cottonwood”, after the large cottonwood trees that lined the lake shore. In addition to running the hotel and cottages, in the early days Mr. Andrus also worked the gates at the waste weir. The landing offered boat rental and sites for camping for those who preferred not to stay in the hotel. Over time, the resort grew to include a lunch and dining room at the hotel, as indicated by the sign next to the road.
