Public Landing

The view in the first postcard above (dated 1918) is looking west, along the public boat landing, taken from the Siesta Park Landing on the east side of the harbor. The Busy Bee Restaurant is on the left. The first Post Office in Russells Point is in the center of the postcard. Harry Mansfield was the first Postmaster, but he is better remembered as the prolific photographer who signed his photographs, many of which were reproduced as postcards, by the letter “M”. On the right is the Russells Point Hotel and Bundy’s Landing. The second postcard (dated 1926) shows a closer view taken from under the overhang of the Busy Bee Restaurant.

This view was taken by Harry Mansfield in 1912 from the public landing and looking west towards the Hotel Russells Point. The Gillwater Motor Line shown below in a card dated 1911 was on the west side of the harbor, immediately south of Bundy’s Landing.

These men are standing at approximately the location of the Gillwater Motor Line. The postcard is dated 1910 and looks south, with the Railroad Depot shown in the top left.
