Siesta Park

Looking east along an unpaved Main Street without any of the commercial establishments shown in later postcards. Siesta Landing and Cottage Park is to the left, the east side of the harbor, where French Wilgus built the Amusement Park in the 1920s. The view of Siesta Park from the across the harbor shown in the postcard below must be a year or two after the first picture was taken since there is no wooden quay shown where the boats are moored.

At some point Clayton Cain purchased Siesta Park and Landing. He had row boats for rent, as well as six cottages for visitors to stay. In the early 1920s the lease on the land on the east side of the harbor was later purchased by French Wilgus, who built the Sandy Beach Amusement Park on this site.

At some point before Clayton Cain purchased the landing it may have been called Spain’s Landing.
